A group of eight residents from the Greater Toronto Area, including Woodbridge and Thornhill, are sharing a $1-million lottery windfall.

The group of family members, friends, and coworkers — including Thi Thao Nguyen, Ha-Ngoc Do and Sean Khoi Do, all of Woodbridge, Hoai Thu Pham, Phi Hung Nguyen and Thi Ha Quyen Nguyen, all of North York, Linh Nhi Vu of Toronto, and Thi Kim Ho of Thornhill — won the MAXMILLIONS prize in the Sept. 10, 2024 LOTTO MAX draw.

Thi Thao, a restaurant owner, said the group is ecstatic to be celebrating its first big win.

“I checked our ticket at the store and couldn’t believe it when I saw that we had won $1 million!” said Thi Thao, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre with her group members to collect their windfall. “I was with another group member at the time, and we both started freaking out in the best way possible! Then, I texted the rest of our group. They were all shocked and thrilled.”

“We are all so happy and excited! This win is miraculous,” Thi Thao concluded.

The winning ticket was purchased at Galleria Supermarket on Yonge Street in Thornhill.
