Frank Stronach's judicial pre-trial hearing was adjourned till Feb. 24.

Frank Stronach’s pre-trial hearing has been adjourned to Feb. 24, after a brief hearing in Newmarket on Tuesday.

After initially being re-scheduled on Monday, Jan. 27, Stronach's hearing into several sexual assault charges returned to court on Tuesday, Feb. 4 in the Newmarket Superior Court of Justice on Eagle Street.

Stronach did not appear in Newmarket court on Monday. Stronach’s lawyer, Leora Shemesh, appeared on his behalf via Zoom, as did the judge and lawyers for the Crown.

Stronach, the founder of Aurora-based automotive manufacture Magna International, has been charged with several counts of sexual assault, with the alleged incidents dating back to the 1970s. Peel Regional Police reported that Stronach faces a total of 18 charges relating to 13 victims.

The charges have not yet been proven in court, with the 92-year-old Stronach denying the allegations.

Stronach was first arrested by Peel Regional Police on June 7

Shemesh sought to move the case from criminal court in Brampton, in Peel Region, a move that proved successful.

Two separate hearings are being held, with several of the charges being heard in Toronto court.

In Newmarket, Stronach is set to face trial on five counts of sexual assault for incidents that allegedly occurred in or around Aurora and Gormley, with the alleged incidents dating back to 1999, with the most recent incident allegedly happening in April 2023.

The matter will return to court on Feb. 24 at 3:30 p.m., to be held online.
