Christmas trees have been set up at Firehouse Subs locations across Ontario as they collect new, unwrapped toys in partnership with Ontario Paramedic Association.
The toy drive continues until Christmas Eve on Dec. 24. Christmas trees with collection boxes have been set up at at all of the chain's 48 restaurants in Ontario.
The paramedic association will pick up the donated toys, which will then be distributed to local organizations and given to underprivileged children for Christmas.
“We’re thrilled to be working with the Ontario Paramedic Association to give back this holiday season,'' said Patrick Morris, Firehouse Subs Canada area representative and franchisee. “Making subs is what we do but giving back is at the heart of the Firehouse Subs brand. If we can make just one child’s holiday season a little brighter, it’s worth it.”
As an added incentive for customers to donate, anyone who brings a toy for the drive will receive a free drink and cookie with the purchase of a medium sub.
The restaurant has a history of giving back, with the creation of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada.
In total, they have donated more than $1.7 million to public safety organizations in Canada through the foundation.
There are four Firehouse Subs locations in York Region where you can donate a new, unwrapped toy: the East Gwillimbury/Newmarket North location at 200 Green Lane East in East Gwillimbury; the Stouffville location at 5777 Main St. Unit 107; the Maple location at 2901 Major Mackenzie Drive Unit C-2 in Vaughan, and the Markham location at 9750 Markham Rd.
There is also a Firehouse Subs at 502 Holland St. West in Bradford.
