Fire crews contain Aurora garage fire despite ‘facing difficulties’

Central York Fire Services sent six trucks to the Elyse Court garage fire in Aurora on Sunday, Feb. 11.

Fire crews “faced difficulties” during their fight against a garage fire in Aurora on Sunday evening, but managed to successfully contain the fire.

Central York Fire Services responded to a call about a fire in a garage on Elyse Court in Aurora at 7:18 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9.

The owner had phoned about the fire that broke out in their garage, with all the house’s occupants and pets able to exit safely. 

Central York Fire responded with six trucks, 24 firefighters and a chief officer, with crews adopting an “offensive strategy,” according to an incident report.

“The crews deployed multiple lines and faced difficulties extinguishing the fire but were able to contain the fire to the garage with minimum smoke migration in the house,” read the release. “The family will be able to occupy the house again.”

The cause of the fire is unknown.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

Elyse Court was closed for a few hours and has since reopened.

As well as the six Central York fire trucks, the department worked in collaboration with York Regional Police, York Emergency Medical Services, Alectra and Enbridge Gas.
