Central York Fire Services extinguished a basement fire in Aurora Sunday that resulted in damage and the loss of a family dog.
Firefighters responded to a blaze at Orchard Heights Boulevard around 1:40 p.m. Dec. 15. Crews were able to locate and extinguish a fire in a basement.
As the fire was raised to a two-alarm situation, the response included six trucks and a chief officer, along with York Regional Police, York EMS, Alectra and Enbridge Gas.
One resident on the scene re-entered the house to find a pet and was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation, but the family dog perished, CYFS reported.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
