Shining Hill Collections Estates Inc. is holding an information event about the new subdivision coming to the southwest corner of Newmarket next Tuesday.
The public information centre on June 20 is part of a planning process that guides the vision for the development on hundreds of acres of land.
Newmarket amended its official plan in 2022 to rezone the formerly protected lands and allow the project to proceed. Now, the proponents must craft a secondary plan to detail what the new community will look like.
The plan will identify “community vision and goals to establish a detailed planning framework,” the developer said in a flyer sent to residents.
The town received several concessions from the developer to allow the new development to go ahead on previously environmentally protected lands. As a result, the new community will have a tennis facility, as well as 30 homes incorporating a high environmental standard.
The drop-in public information session will feature existing conditions for the property and an exploration of the goals and aspirations of the new community.
The session will also highlight the municipal class environmental assessment in the area, guiding the municipal infrastructure to be built in the new area of town.
“We encourage you to attend,” the developer said. “Ask questions, and share your thoughts with the project team.”
There will be more public information sessions held in the future, the developer said.
The session will run June 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at EventMRKT at 352 Doug Duncan Dr.
