Central York Fire Services deployed four fire trucks to extinguish a commercial fire on Kerrisdale Boulevard Dec. 28.
The fire service said the call came in at 6 p.m. for a commercial building in the area. Sixteen firefighters, along with a platoon chief, attended the location and noticed smoke and fire from the production area of the building.
The fire was extinguished with no injuries. The cause of the incident remains unknown, the fire department said.
York Regional Police and York Paramedical Services were also on the scene to assist.
The fire department reminds residents to be aware of fire safety features in the workplace.
“Educate yourself on the emergency procedures outlined in the building’s fire safety plan, and learn the locations of all available exits from your workspace in case the nearest one is blocked by fire or smoke,” Central York Fire Services said in a news release. “When a fire occurs, the top priority is to get outside.”
