Giving Tuesday is coming up Nov. 30 and the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) will be doubling the impact of donations made that day to further support people affected by cancer.
Falling after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday encourages you to donate or give back after a weekend that's typically filled with a lot of spending.
To encourage Canadians to donate this year, CCS is doubling the impact of every donation made on Nov. 30. An anonymous donor will be matching them up to a total of $70,000.
"The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic hasn’t stopped cancer from being a life-threatening and life-changing disease. It isn’t waiting for restrictions to lift or the healthcare system to address backlogs. In fact, it has increased demands for many of the Canadian Cancer Society’s programs while also compromising our ability to raise funds," the organization said in a news release. "CCS is the only organization that provides a national support system for people affected by cancer and their families. This Giving Tuesday, we’re here to support people with cancer — and you can too."
Giving Tuesday is part of the organization's Holiday Campaign.
"Funds raised through the CCS Holiday Campaign support the brightest minds in cancer research and fuel world-class discoveries that transform our understanding of cancer," they said.
Donations can be made online between Nov. 29 and Dec. 4.
