It’s not too late to register and take the local Polar Plunge into icy cold waters to help raise much needed funds and awareness for Special Olympics Ontario’s 25,000-plus athletes.

York Regional Police Association, York Regional Police, Special Olympic athletes and community members will all take the plunge on Thursday, March 5 at the York Regional Police Association’s 600 Stonehaven Ave. property.

That '70s Night is the theme of this year's fundraiser.

Two new prizes have been announced: a JBL Charge 4 Wireless Speaker will go to the highest individual fundraiser; and a HUSH weighted blanket is waiting for the top athlete/volunteer per plunge.

Last year’s event raised $30,000.

Participant registration starts at 6 p.m., with the polar plunges set to begin at 7 p.m.
