Aurora Street Festival returns June 2.

One of the country's largest street festivals returns to Aurora this Sunday, June 2.

Hundreds of vendors, street performers and live music will line Yonge Street from Wellington Street to Murray Drive.

The popular event typically attracts thousands of visitors — more than 30,000 — enjoying the shopping, food and entertainment.

Put on my by the Aurora Chamber of Commerce, the event is held annually on the first Sunday in June.

This year's musical line-up will feature a number of popular local acts and JUNO award winners, too.

On at Golf Links are The Coyotes, "favourites of the festival participants," according to chamber events manager Sandra Watson. The Coyotes will be playing throughout the day.

Performing at the Church Street stage is a special line-up featuring Sudbury singer-songwriter Mimi O’Bonsawin.

The Shining Water Singers will return this year with three performances of Songs on the Drum throughout the afternoon.

Other acts taking the stage include the funk/rock group Baleen, the Juno award-winning Calypso/Caribbean band Kobo Town, Aurora’s very own Borealis Big Band, and funk act Cheryn Lynn and The Catalysts.

There will be more than 500 vendors at the event. Food vendors will be serving up everything from hot dogs to jerk chicken.

A standout feature this year is the Community Craft Beer Festival, happening inside the Law Insurance parking lot.

The event, with free parking and admission, runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The chamber has been organizing the street festival for more than 25 years, since it first began as a community garage sale. It is now York Region’s largest community event, organizers say.
