York Region Public Health inspectors charged Aurora No Frills, and restaurants in Aurora and Vaughan last week for food safety violations.

Joe and Val’s No Frills faces charges for not maintaining the food handling room in a sanitary condition and not maintaining clean floors in the food-handling room, according to a public health inspection report.

The inspection report said the general housekeeping was not satisfactory during a Nov. 25 inspection, with the premise not being maintained in sanitary condition or with clean floors. Inspectors served a ticket, with food handler education also done on-site and a re-inspection to come. Inspectors posted a proof of public health sign.

Aurora restaurant Parya Kababsara was also charged. During a Nov. 26 inspection, inspectors charged the restaurant with failing to ensure a food handler was washing hands as necessary and using a handwashing station for anything other than handwashing for employees. Inspectors issued tickets, and did education on-site, with a re-inspection to come and proof of public health sign posted.

Com Pho The Sky in Vaughan faced a charge for not maintaining clean floors in the food-handling room. Another issue of ensuring the equipment surface was clean/sanitized as necessary was corrected during the inspection. Inspectors conducted food handler education, issued a ticket and posted a proof of public health sign.

The public health unit states that the inspection report represents the condition of the restaurants at the date and time of the inspection only and does not guarantee or warrant the condition of the food premises at any other time.
