The Town of Aurora is hosting a Hindu Holi Festival — a celebration of “spring and love" — at Aurora Town Square on Saturday, March 15.

Holi is a significant Hindu festival, celebrated as the Festival of Colours, Love, and Spring, often featuring attendees throwing coloured water and powders on one another.

The event is free and family-friendly and a way to “celebrate the arrival of spring, new beginnings and the spirit of love through exciting activities, music and dance,” according to the town.

The Holi Festival will feature a diverse range of performances and activities for all ages, including:

  • 10:30 a.m. – Aurora Public Library's Story Time: "It’s Holi!" by Sanyukta Mathur, hosted in the library living room
  • 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. – Bollywood dance demos, hosted in the Addison Hall Dance Studio
  • 2:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. – Mini Colours Festival, at the café level and outdoor square

There are also plans for colour throwing, depending on the weather, live music and free vegetable samosas, while supplies last.

Aurora’s Holi Festival is on Saturday, March 15 at Aurora Town Square, at 50 Victoria St. More information can be found online.
