Valleyview Alliance Church is partnering with Dickies’ No Frills for its annual Jingle Bell Blitz food drive for the Newmarket Food Pantry on Saturday, Nov. 23.
"It has been amazing to see over the years what a community coming together can do for people dealing with food insecurities. We are aiming to go over 60,000 pounds of food this year," organizers said.
For over 15 years, the church has been holding the drive, collecting a total of more than 50,000 pounds of food.
Along with the Jingle Bell Blitz food drive, the church hosts weekly community dinners to help with rising food insecurity in the community.
Dickie’s No Frills shoppers will be offered a brown paper bag with a list of what the food pantry needs for the upcoming month and can purchase as many of the items as they would like to donate.
After donating, the church will give those who contribute to the food drive a gift as a thank you.
The event takes place Saturday, Nov. 23 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Dickie’s No Frills on 17255 Leslie St., Newmarket.
