Retiree Martin Britton of Auora is celebrating his first big win after playing the lottery with OLG for more than 30 years.
“I was at home when I scanned my Lotto 6/49 ticket using the OLG app,” Britton said, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings.
“I checked it again and again, thinking my mind was playing tricks on me. I thought to myself, ‘This is insane,’ and was left stunned.”
Britton won a Lotto 6/49 second prize worth $75,236 in the Nov. 2, 2024 draw. The father of four and grandfather of four added, “Until now, I’ve kept the news of my win to myself. I want to surprise everyone once I have the cheque in hand. There’s no better feeling than this. Life is good—in fact, it’s amazing”
With his winnings, Martin plans to travel to Europe and save the rest for a rainy day.
The winning ticket was purchased at Vos’ Your Independent Grocer on Scugog Street in Port Perry.
