A total of seven employees at the Newmarket/East Gwillimbury Costco have tested positive for COVID-19 in just over a week.
Employees of the big box warehouse outlet at 18182 Yonge St. were informed of the most recent case on Saturday, April 17 — for a co-worker who last worked April 13 — in an employee notice posted by store manager Michael Moore.
According to a spate of additional notices, dated April 9, 11, 12, 13 and 14, six other employees have been confirmed to have COVID-19.
Last days worked range from Saturday, April 3 to Tuesday, April 13.
Employees who had direct contact with their infected co-workers have been informed, Moore states in the notices.
Any employees feeling "heightened anxiety" as a result of the confirmed cases are encouraged to access the employee assistance program, and paid sick/personal time, vacation time and unpaid leave are available to those concerned about being at work, the notice also states.
