Rose Of Sharon Services For Young Mothers

Since 1985, Rose of Sharon Services for Young Mothers has offered free supportive programs and educational services in York Region to pregnant and parenting youth. We offer a hybrid of online and onsite programs in a welcoming, safe and inclusive space that empowers young mothers to embrace their strengths, set goals and build the future they dream of for themselves and their young children.

Free Programs & Services:

• York Academy - Youth (up to 21 years) can continue their high school education and graduate at our York Academy (YCDSB affiliated) located at our Newmarket location with transportation assistance and onsite childminding in our Child Development Centre.
• Living & Learning Together - Young parents (up to 29 years) participate in online and onsite weekly workshops that offer parenting skills, personal and child development knowledge.   
• All Babies Count (ABC) - Parents of any age (until baby reaches 6 months of age) learn about prenatal nutrition and maternal care through weekly workshops.
• Personal Counselling - Youth have access to personal and group mental health counselling support and have help connecting with other community services.
• Food Security - Young families can access our food and nutrition program which offers nutrition education workshops, personal consults and free home deliveries of groceries, baby food, practical supports and diapers.
• ParentsConnect.ca – Our new recourse portal offers online support that is accessible 24/7.

Land Acknowledgment

We would like to acknowledge the Indigenous people who lived here before us and live here still, who cared for this land and were forced to share it with us under the Williams Treaty of 1923. The Wendat, the Anishinabek Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and recognize the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation as our neighbours to the North. It is important that we not only acknowledge the land, but also continue to reflect and be both allies and accomplices in increasing an awareness of Indigenous presence and land rights in everyday life.
