THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay's own Paul Shaffer has a COVID-19 message for his hard-hit hometown.
Shaffer delivered the message via his Instagram account.
"As an early victim and survivor of COVID, I've got to say you must keep your spirits up. You must stay the course," said Shaffer, best known as David Letterman's sidekick on Late Night with David Letterman from 1982 to 1993, and the Late Show with David Letterman from 1993 to 2015.
"Just keep your masks up and keep a social distance away from everybody. Follow these rules and it will get better. We see light at the end of the tunnel. Keep up the good fight. All of you rugged northwesterners, it turns out the virus is kind of rugged too. But you will get through it because of that ruggedness and that strength. You know you can do it."
Thunder Bay currently has 403 active COVID-19 cases and is embedded in the Grey-Lockdown level of the Ontario COVID-19 framework. Thirty-eight people have died of the virus, including eight people this month alone.
