Women's Support Network of York Region takes self-care series online

Newmarket’s sexual violence crisis centre launches an online four-part series this week to help participants with self-care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Women’s Support Network of York Region’s Show up for YOU-Self-Care 101 runs Thursday mornings between 10 to 11 a.m. beginning May 14.

The interactive online series will cover many topics regarding self-care and its importance in one’s life. 

Support network staff will guide the four virtual classes on such things as why self-care is important and how to create a plan, journaling and art, and the importance of exercise.

Topics covered include:

May 14: What is self-care? Why is it important? Create a self-care plan.

May 21: Journallng and art. Explore the benefits and where to start. Complete a drawing activity.

May 28: Move your body. Why physical activity is important. Participate in a short, guided yoga class.

June 4: Wrap up. Engage with others and complete a self-care activity.
