Beginning today, you can experience a bit of the “old” normal way of shopping at the Newmarket Farmers Market by walking from stall to stall and selecting what looks good to you.
You no longer have to pre-order your goods from the vendors, although that option is still available for those who prefer to shop that way.
The drive-through pick up lane has been taken out of commission as the market moves into its own stage 2 of reopening during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The market’s setup is designed to keep everyone safe and stop the spread of the coronavirus, and it works as follows:
- One-way walk-through only
- You’ll be provided hand sanitizer before you enter the market
- Physical distancing of stalls is in force, as well as six feet of space between customers and vendors
- Face masks are recommended
- Leave your own reusable bags at home
- Do not attend if you have symptoms of COVID-19
Some of the seasonal produce at the farmers market today includes spinach, red beets, golden beets, radish, cilantro, butterhead lettuce, green butter leaf lettuce, red leaf lettuce, field cucumbers, and more
The Newmarket Farmers Market is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. until the last weekend in October. It is temporarily located at the south parking lot of the Magna Centre, 800 Mulock Dr.
