A Guelph city councillor has waded into the ongoing trucker protest debate, voicing his opinion through a song titled Crybabies Caravan.

James Gordon, a well-known folk musician, posted the song Wednesday morning with a live performance on his Facebook page.

“It’s kind of a humorous song with a serious message,” he told GuelphToday. “It’s a traumatic thing that’s happening. It’s hard not to think about it.”

The video, which is 2:52 minutes long, had been viewed 30,000 times in its first 26 hours, most of which happened during the last few hours. It's also been posted on YouTube.

The song features lyrics like, “Beating of the privilege chest. Inconvenience isn’t being oppressed,” and “Walk with Nazis, you’re a Nazi too. Don’t give me that line that it’s just a few. If you’re OK to hang out with that crew, I’m sorry but I’m not OK with you.”

They're things that just needed to be said, Gordon noted.
