There could be a noticeable military presence throughout the region this weekend.

Canadian Army Reserve personnel from the 32 Canadian Brigade Group will be conducting convoy and supply operations training on roads and highways between North York, CFB Borden and Wasaga Beach from May 3 to 5.

The Department of National Defence (DND) says the public can expect to see increased military traffic with Canadian Army vehicles on various area roads, including Ontario Highways 401, 400 and others.

"Exercise Trillium Venture will follow pre-planned routes between North York and Wasaga Beach, transiting Borden," the DND said in a news release. "Participating personnel will conduct planned and short stops throughout the duration of the exercise, stopping for rest, fuel, scheduled maintenance, and other training."

Participating soldiers will not be carrying any weapons or ammunition, says the DND.

"This training exercise ensures our readiness to respond to emergencies, such as flooding and wildfires in Canadian communities in cooperation with other domestic agencies," stated the release.

"All measures are being taken to ensure minimum inconvenience in these areas during the exercise dates, and members of the public are asked to take extra caution when approaching military vehicles and are thanked in advance for their understanding and co-operation," said the DND.
